Is your model steam loco getting a bid tired and worn? Our servicing and repair service will rejuvenate your loco and return it to almost "as new" condition.

A routine chassis service would include inspection and replacement where necessary of crank pins, coupling and connecting rods, valve gear components, piston and valve rod O-rings, cylinder gaskets, axles and bearings. Once reassembled, your loco will have its valve gear timing checked and adjusted as required before being put through a thorough test-running programme.

Your loco's boiler may also need attention, and this can include a de-scale of the interior, replacement of seals and joint washers and recalibration of the safety valve.

The Rhos Helyg Locomotive Works specialises in working on locomotives produced by the Roundhouse Engineering Company of Doncaster, but locomotives from other manufacturers are also welcomed.

Where possible, all parts used will be brand-new and obtained from the original manufacturer. Any parts that are no longer obtainable can be made in-house.

We also fit (and supply if required) radio control equipment and chuff pipes. No job is too small!

Please note that we do not fit steam whistles as a stand-alone job as we consider them to be the invention of the devil. We would only include the fitting of a whistle during an overhaul or rebuild.
